Split Second Sound Party

You know that feeling you get when you show up at a wedding and you see Split Second Sound setting up their equipment? It's a very pleasant feeling, isn't it! I cannot remember the first time I learned about Split Second Sound but I can sum it all up in 2 words... THEY ROCK! Now imagine how I felt when I was asked if I'd like to film their next dance party! I was happier than a bird with a french fry!

I often see comments on facebook where Vinny is having a meeting with his lead DJ's to stay updated with the latest trends and how to keep everyone entertained throughout the night. Doing things like that say's a lot about a company. Oh, I could go on and on...

Vinny and Diane are just great - down to earth folk who LOVE doing what they do. In fact, they often spread their love by hosting these vendor appreciation parties from time to time! Lemme tell ya... these parties are no ordinary get-togethers! They are full blown dance parties with food, drinks, flower decor... the whole kit and kaboodle!

This time they brought in Chairman of the Board band and American Idol Josh Saunders to kick everything off! Later on, we had a Michael Jackson impersonator! Yep, you heard right! And it all went down at the North Carolina Dance Theatre in uptown Charlotte.

Tell ya what. Enough of this talk about how much they rock and how awesome their appreciation parties are.

Have a peek at this and see for yourself!

Favor Me Events Promo Video

Let's see here... where on earth do I begin! I am beyond a shadow of a doubt - beside myself with Anne Markey of Favor Me Events promo video. We initially met at a wedding last summer. With Annes super sweet personality, we were talking like we've known each other for years in no time flat. We met again a few months later at a networking event and you can pretty much say the rest is history.

After a brief discussion about a promo video, we set a date to get together and talk about what Anne wanted in her video. Before the afternoon was over, we had everything covered. You have to think about this... an event planner spends a huge part of the year working/designing/planning with couples for their wedding.

With that in mind Anne wanted to approach this video with a whole new perspective. I'll never forget Anne saying... "I want something warm and fuzzy... and something to show my personality"! Well, Anne... you so rocked this!

I must also give a huge shout-out to my good man Alan Daly of crown alley films. I was actually assisting Alan on the wedding where I met Anne. In case I needed extra footage, Alan in all his brilliantness decided to donate a clip of the wedding to show in Annes video. And it couldn't have been a more perfect clip!

After I had it all finished, I was on pins and needles waiting to show Anne her video! Overall we got to sip a few cups of coffee and witness Benny (that cute lil doggy) ham-it-up for my cameras!

So Anne, I'll say it again... You so ROCKED your promo video!

Have a look!

Themba Imagery Promo

I love meeting new people! Especially the ones that are passionate about what they do. When I met Sunny Hutchinson of Themba Imagery for the first time; I knew right off the bat she was passionate about that she does!

Sunny was interested in having a promo video for her amazing photography business and let me tell ya.. when I get around people that are passionate about what they do and I get to be involved by doing something I'm passionate about doing... well lets just say there's a fire that gets stirred up in me!

Screen grab of a gorgeous sunset over Charlotte.
Oh we had so much fun! We started off at The Greens and then ventured to a very cool parking deck that was just perfect for the shoot! When we were all finished, there was an absolutely stunning sunset over Uptown Charlotte.

One more thing about Sunny! When you book her for your wedding or any other event you are having, you're actually helping others at the same time! Sunny donates a portion of that service to a charity of your choice. Now that's saying something. We should all be like that! Way to go Sunny!

There are few other folks that made this event happen. Click here and check out Sunny's blog to get the inside scoop of all who were involved.

Now have a look at her video! You just can't help but to love her personality!  :)

Alice & Jason @ Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church

Have you ever met a couple that you just wanted to give a great big ole bear hug to... and for apparent reason? Well, Alice and Jason are just that kind of couple! Everything came together on a short notice but I was so happy to be a part of their wedding. We had so much fun!

The lovely ceremony was at Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church of Rock Hill followed by a rocking reception at the Rock Hill Country Club. Congrats Alice and Jason! I really think the world of you guys and your families.

Greg + Katherine - Mint Museum (Randolph) Wedding & Reception

The view from Greg's balcony!
Woo-hoo - Greg and Katherine are married! I have warm and fuzzy feelings for this couple. Here's a few reasons why:

When I first met this lovely couple at Starbucks, their smiles were gleaming from east to west! Smiling is actually one of the first things I notice about all couples and Greg and Katherine were all about it.

Next, when I asked who their photographer was, they replied with Brent Gulledge Photography. Although Brent graduated a couple of years earlier, both he and I attended the same high school. I've also worked with Brent on other weddings, so I was completely aware of his fabulous photography work.

And lastly, Greg and Katherine are very much into the uptown scene. In fact they live uptown! And anyone that knows me well, knows that  I really LOVE the vibes of the center city.

The short version of all this...
Greg and Katherine are just great people. I consider myself lucky to know these two and I seriously felt like I connected with both wedding parties! Oh and one more thing. I must give a big high-five to David (Katherine's Uncle) who decided to give this wedding movie as a gift to Greg and Katherine.

Congrats to Greg and Katherine! I loved every minute of your wedding!!!

The wedding and reception were held at the lovely Mint Museum (Randolph).

Have peek at a few highlights of their wedding.

Planet Backyard

As a kid growing up way out in the country, I was just minutes away from all kinds of cool landscapes and endless miles of trails from the local hunters. If I wasn't blazing around the hills on my dirt bike, it was my dad taking me to the other side of town to go hunting. During all those years of exploring, dirt biking and hunting, I discovered some really cool sceneries.

Nature designed waterfalls and hilltops that would overlook Pee Dee River were very common around my hometown of Lilesville, NC. There are even massive boulders that are literally the size of some 2 story homes that can be found on Lilesville land. No joking at all about that!

If I didn't feel like riding trails, there were plenty of open dirt roads from the sand and gravel quarries located nearby. I'm sure that is how I've developed such a love for all kinds of nature/wildlife and landscapes with gorgeous scenery.

By now, I bet you've figured out that I LOVE the Planet Earth DVD or any tv show involving the beauties of the world.

So, during the 2011 year, I shot enough footage from each season to make my very own Planet Earth. Although I'm now located close to Charlotte, it was super fun exploring all the different areas around the back roads. Even my own backyard was filmed for some of the scenes used in this short film. So lets see here... I believe I'll just call this Planet Backyard.

Sit back, relax and enjoy!

Stacey + Jon Wedding 9.10.11

Stacey is my new best friend... she just doesn't know it yet, ha! We started the day out at Fuze Salon where Stacey was having her hair and make-up session! And for the record, as stunning as Stacey is to begin with, you'd be shocked at how she looked once everything was finished! There were literally people in the salon standing by shaking their heads at how marvelous she looked! I'm so not kidding! You would've thought she's getting ready for a magazine shoot!!!

During the last bit of the make-up session, Stacey mentioned that she'd much rather have a wedding movie than wedding photographs! And that's where she was instantly my new best friend!   :)

All joking aside, the ceremony was held at the grooms family lake house in York, SC. And holy moly, that place is GORGEOUS, (trust me it was really that gorgeous)! This lake house is more like a dream vacation house! It's built perfectly inline with the moon shining down on the water. They even have a swing by the lake to relax on those full moon nights!

Afterwards, a night full of dancing right by the lake was how it all ended!

Tell ya what, why don't I just show you how awesome their wedding was instead of telling!

Have a peek!

90th Birthday Celebration 9.3.11

Wow... where do I begin! Talk about a family full of love! The plan was to have everybody in place for a surprise entrance of Louvenia Dickson, mother of the family. Once the surprise was over and everyone got their share of hugs, the rest of the night was all about reliving memories. One by one, family members stood up and talked about how Louvenia was such an inspiration to them. Not one person could make it through their speech with a dry eye.

After all the speeches were made and dinner was served, everyone gathered together for a musical performance and picture slideshow. I loved hearing about all the nicknames, stories and most of all, the hugs and tears!

Louvenia was given a money tree (a large sum of money given by friends and family members), a huge cake (one that could pass for a wedding) and a big ole plaque full of pictures.

I wish everyone celebrated birthdays like this. After all, the most important part of a persons life should always be their family.

This celebration was held at the Holiday Inn of Myrtle Beach, SC.

Alexis + Alfonso Ballantyne Hotel Wedding & Reception

Woo-hoo... Alexis and Alfonso are married!!! They said their I do's at the Ballantyne Hotel followed by a gorgeous candle light Reception. Oh, I really wish the whole world could've witnessed all the emotion during the first dance and parent dancing. They were definitely tears of love, joy and happiness.

I cannot even begin to express in words; the most awesome the love story of Alexis and Alfonso!

Emily + David - Southside Baptist Church Wedding & Byrons South End Reception

Woohoo - Emily and David are married! I had so much fun being a part of their wedding. They said their I-do's at Southside Baptist Church in Charlotte and the Reception at the gorgeous Byrons South End. Once the dancing started, it didn't stop till it was time to leave!

It was also super awesome to work with the amazing Nathan and Rachel of Nathan Abplanalp Photography. Their photos are fantastic!

I've also learned through the power of facebook, that David is quite the guitarist! And I'm a fan of any good guitar player!

Congratulations to Emily and David!

Kyle & Lesley Rock River Vineyards Wedding & Reception

It would be hard to find a word that best describes Kyle & Lesley. If you take amazing, fun, laughter, contagious, fabulous; mix em all up and smash em together...  you'll probably get what Kyle & Lesley have. What an adorable couple.

Lesley was absolutely stunning and Kyle was one handsome lad! Their wedding day was just brilliant in so many ways!

The newlyweds said their vows at the gorgeous Rocky River Vineyards in Midland NC on May 21, 2011. And I must give a great big cheers to Rachel Barker of Millie Holloman Photography for her amazing talent! I loved working with ya!

Have a peek at this wedding trailer for Kyle & Lesley.

Oh and one more thing... this was a last minute call but I wanted to do a little something extra for Kyle and Lesley. I asked them both to say a little something about how much they love one another. And what an amazing affect it had on their story for their DVD. I loved it and wanted to share it with the world. Have a peek at this ending to their DVD.

Adagio School of Dance and Performing Arts

It's times like these when your good working reputation and your solid friendship with other people really comes in handy for work related stuff! A super awesome photographer friend of mine by the name of Colleen McFiggins referred me to Adagio School of Dance when one of the dance instructors mentioned to her about needing a videographer for their dance recital.

After meeting with Julia, it was quite obvious that this show was gonna be big! And boy she wasn't kidding either!
Adagio Dance Instructors
It's also quite obvious that Julia and her team of instructors mean serious business about their dance studio. I don't know any other way to say it but these ladies can really dance!

Once Julia stole my heart with her awesome personality, I really wanted to do something special for this recital. And it didn't take us long at all to come up with the perfect plan.

On the overall sale of DVD's, a 10% donation was going to be made to Brain Cancer. How awesome is it to be able to give to the people in need through your work!

One more thing. If you're looking for a great place, great dance instructors, and great atmosphere on dance classes, Adagio School of Dance and Performing Arts is where you need to go.

I just hope you like good ole southern hospitality cause these ladies are sweet as southern sweet tea! You can't go wrong! :)

Kate + Bryan Engagement

If you heard the way this couple met, you'd think they were making it all up. Kate and Bryan have one heck-of-a love story. I honestly think they could right a book about it. And I was completely stoked to be a part of their engagement session.

Terah Wilson of Timeless Fotographie is the amazing talent behind the photography lens and what a blast it was to work with Terah!

First, a much needed thank you!

Before I do anything, I must first give a big ole high five and thank you to Alan Daly of Crown Alley Films! I've been working as an assistant editor and shooter (and still going) for around 2 years. And all I can say is WOW!!!

Alans super awesome attitude (and Irish accent) really makes for a fun and pleasant surrounding. His talents are out of this world... and to this day, every single time I watch a clip of a wedding movie that he's edited, it completely wows me! I am truly honored and humbled to work along with this guy. Basically, what I'm saying here is that I'll be committed to Alan until he can't take it anymore and kicks me out the door! ;) Hopefully that never happens!!!

In addition to all the things that are awesome about Alan, he's really pushed me to be the best I can be. I've always had a love for videography but when I saw what Alan was doing with his wedding movies, I was pretty much speechless.

I could go on and on here. So let's break it down. Cheers to my good friend Alan at Crown Alley Films! Thanks for everything my man! You're the reason Brian Bunn Films even exist!

Now, click here and go check out his work!
